A Plea for Our Local Dandridge Emergency Food Pantry

As written by one Martha's Village resident

I volunteer at our local emergency Food Pantry here in Dandridge which is under the auspices of the Dandridge Ministerial Association. Persons in our area in need of food may receive a three day supply of food through the pantry 4 times in a calendar year.

The food pantry relies on donations of food and monetary contributions to buy food in order to meet the temporary emergency needs of the Dandridge area so that none should go hungry. Food is purchased through Second Harvest at a discount.

Recently, I have noticed a decrease in our amount of food available for distribution, funds to purchase food, and a continuing steady increase in the numbers of people needing food.....I am asking a favor from all of you. Would you be willing to donate some food and/or money to this very very worthy cause? Some examples of food items would be peanut butter, jelly, canned soups, canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned spaghetti sauce, canned tuna, etc, pasta, dried beans, cereal, boxed dinners like macaroni and cheese, hamburger helper, etc, crackers and cookies... If you want to give money, checks can be made out to the Dandridge Ministerial Association Food Pantry. I can assure you that any amount will be appreciated.

I have worked with the food pantry for two years now, and I know that it is a very worthy cause helping needy residents of our town...I thank you so very much in advance for any help you can give.
